A campaign event for Vivek Ramaswamy, a 2024 US Presidential candidate and a prominent entrepreneur, turned into a surprising rap performance as he rapped to an Eminem song at a rally in Iowa on Saturday, August 12.

Ramaswamy, a 38-year-old biotech millionaire, was seen warmly greeting people from the stage at the Iowa state rally before unexpectedly breaking into a verse, much to the delight of the cheering crowd.

He shared that Eminem’s song was his favorite to use during campaign events because it embodied a “young and scrappy” spirit.

Ramaswamy had previously disclosed that he used to rap about Libertarian politics during his time as an undergraduate at Harvard University.

“I saw myself, honestly, making it big through American capitalism, and that’s why the Eminem story spoke to me,” Ramaswamy shared with Politico earlier this year.

The underdog candidate has experienced an unexpected surge in the polls, positioning him as a challenger to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for second place, trailing former US President Donald Trump.

Surveys indicate that Ramaswamy, the son of Indian immigrants, is particularly popular among younger Republicans, with whom he has focused much of his outreach.
